The Little Theatre of Happiness

Drama on the Stairs

This may be the smallest theatre you've ever been to. And most probably the cutest.

Au petit théâtre du Bonheur sits on a staircase leading up towards the Sacre Coeur in Paris' 18th arrondissement. It's so small that even I have to duck my head to get in.

On opening the little red door, rubbing your eyes to check that you're not in an episode of the Borrowers, you see the interior has been lovingly decorated, with cosy lighting and welcoming atmosphere.

It calls itself "a magical little room", which is pretty much what it is, but there's nothing diminuitive about the quality that performs there. The agenda is always packed with performances -theatre, music, comedy- from around the world...

I can't think of anywhere nicer to go on a cold winter's evening with a friend...or on a date even. Someone you don't mind squeezing up against, in any case.

Check out their website for what's on. Here's a video to give you an idea of the ambience.
